Quotes: For Inspiration. Sipp Da Surgeon

“Don’t jus cut hair to get a new outfit. U gotta put it down lik your life depended on it.”

GENIUS.

Usually “Quotes: for Inspiration” is just me being sarcastic about most of the stupid crap the people in our industry say. This, on the other hand, is real talk, straight talk, you’ve just boarded the straight talk express. Sipp Da Surgeon is a barber. He is one of the best in the industry. I am currently working on my first official article for LostHairdressers and he is the subject. Do not take the simplicity of this statement for granted. The best teachers in the world know how to simplify the lesson, because it gets the point across. While I don’t feel that I cut hair specifically to buy a new outfit, sometimes I do find myself going through the motions. This is dangerous. It’s dangerous to be complacent, especially in this industry because it will pass you by. Do not think for a second that there isn’t someone out there who can do what you do and possibly even better than you. Sometimes all it takes is for a hairdresser to walk up to your client and say… I’ve got a really good idea for your hair. Would your client try them out? Do you give them a reason not to? The point is to put everything you’ve got into every client and every service. Something that I try to do, and I am not saying I always do it, but its good to keep in mind. I try to always have a conscious plan for  the future of my clients hair. If you are doing long layers this time, tell them that next time you want to do some slightly shorter layers in the crown, or a fringe. If you give them something to look forward to, it wont seem like you have lost interest. It shows that you have foresight. It will also make them think twice when some hairdresser approaches them at a bar and hands them a card. I’ll shut up now. Go get a doughnut, and get crunk. Sipp on Facebook
