Tramaine Townsend has worked with us on nearly every Lost Hairdressers video to date. He is one of the few people I trust to leave with an idea and let him run with it. It’s always well beyond my expectations. Aside from his incredible editing and post production, Tramine is a photographer. This is some of his latest work and we feel like it’s well worth sharing.
What was the inspiration/thought process behind “The Illustrated”?
The Illustrated was a concept I wanted to do for a while. I come from a fine art background of a painting and drawing. Incorporating illustrating in with my photography was a different alternative approach to an editorial for me. I wanted it to feel a little raw and simple like a sketchbook. The images are very similar to the sketchbooks I have of illustrations I started and didn’t finish. My focus has changed to different mediums over the years, and this was an opportunity to merge a past skill set.
Who do you look to for inspiration, or where do you go to find it?
I pull my inspiration from many facets. Following various of blogs and sites that are specific for different things. My top few right now are Arcademi, Addicted to Consumerism, and Haw-lin. They all give random imagery with little to no explanation. Thats how I feel most inspiration should be seen. Looking for answers like the “how-to’s” and “why’s”, takes away the magic of that spark.
